Microsoft Defender for Cloud is a comprehensive cloud-native application protection platform (CNAPP) that includes DevOps security, cloud security posture management (CSPM), and cloud workload protection (CWP) capabilities. It helps find weak spots across cloud configurations, strengthens the overall security posture of environments, and protects workloads across multicloud and hybrid environments from evolving threats. We are looking for someone with experience in this domain and/or a competitive product and can act as a deep subject matter expert to work alongside the field driving sales and adoption of the solution.

Responsibilities
- Influences and engages with cross-functional internal partners, external partners, including early adopting customers, senior leadership, and other key stakeholders to gather input and garner support for product/service vision, strategy, and roadmap for multiple feature areas. Starts to provide thought leadership for questions and challenges from group managers and other leaders. Anticipates push back and addresses it appropriately using product expertise and data while handling challenging feedback. Collaborates to gain buy in and alignment. Solicits input from others regarding priorities and resources needed to deliver desired outcomes for multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service).
- Works across multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service) as directed. Helps define and influence the long-term vision and strategy for the feature areas based on a deep understanding of customer needs, market and user research, the competitive landscape, and Microsoft’s business goals and strategy. Helps write the product framing/vision memo. Helps distill the vision and strategy into a product roadmap. Creates user stories and assists in building epics to convey the big picture. Leverages a deep understanding of the product architecture to design integrated scenarios. Collaborates with others (e.g., Business Planning, Finance, Support, Customers, Product Marketing) to identify the potential customer base. Communicates product strategy to internal and external customers and builds consensus through multiple methods (e.g., conference presentations, collaboration with partner organizations).
- Owns or partners with others in driving business impact across the organization and tracking success criteria and performance metrics (e.g., Objectives and Key Results [OKRs], Key Performance Indicators [KPIs] such as engagement, usage, acquisition, revenue, profitability, and in-project features) and provides clarity on fundamentals (e.g., quality, privacy, security, compliance, accessibility, cost of goods sold [COGS]) of multiple features or feature areas. Works with Software Engineering (SWE) and Hardware Engineering (HWE) to identify needed data and ensure needed telemetry is developed and obtains it responsibly and compliantly; reports and explicates reasons for outcomes. Deeply understands the COGS of multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service) and the KPIs that will help improve profitability. Identifies OKRs for multiple feature areas (e.g., product, service) and ensures alignment of the features with product-level OKRs. Determines the value of the product or feature to the business, aligns success criteria, and measures success.
- Addresses the competitive landscape and the customer perception of Microsoft Defender for Cloud. You will share your expertise and provide guidance to the field, supporting opportunities and promoting sales and adoption of MDC.
- Offers guidance through collateral, webinars, and other forums to educate the field on how to engage with and utilize these programs, as well as gather feedback to enhance and grow the offerings.
- You will be part of the Security Pre-Intent CxE team, focusing mainly on the Microsoft Defender for Cloud area while also gaining insight into various product workloads and teams to identify new opportunities for developing and driving at-scale workloads.
- As a Security Pre-Intent CxE Team member, you will build relationships with engineering, uncover key insights, drive measurable product improvements in collaboration with Product Managers, Engineers, and Security Researchers, and create scalable and repeatable processes that enable value realization for Microsoft security solutions.
Qualifications
Required/Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 5+ years experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
- In-depth knowledge of cloud security offering Microsoft Defender for Cloud or experience with leading CNAPP solution providers (PANT, Wiz, CS, etc.).
- Demonstrated ability to drive improvements in end-to-end customer experiences .
- Ability to act as a liaison between customers and development teams to ensure successful technical fulfillment of customer requirements.
- Technical sales background or experience in field/customer-facing roles working with Global 500 companies.
- Fluent in reading, writing and speaking English.
Other Requirements
- Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings: Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft background and Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
Additional Or Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree AND 7+ years of experience in product/service/project/program management or software development
- OR equivalent experience.
- In-depth architect-level knowledge of Microsoft Threat Protection security offerings, expectation is level 300-400 on at least one of the workloads.
- Fluent in reading, writing and speaking Portugese/Spanish.
- Forward thinking and strategic, yet pragmatic and operationally savvy.
